Xavi Finally Reacts To Criticism After Succeding The Quarter Final

FC Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez responded to criticism after his team beat Naples (3-1) in the return round of 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday.

There was too much pressure on players, such as ultimatums, life or death. It said that we were the laughing stock of the Champions League – who laughs now?” he asks.

The Catalan team qualified for the C1 quarter-finals for the first time since 2020.

Since then, FC Barcelona has experienced a series of painful European eliminations, losing the quarter-final that year 8-2 in a single leg against Bayern Munich, before losing 5-2 (cumulative score) to Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 in 2021 and being eliminated in the group phase in 2022 and 2023.

“This is one of my best moments as a coach. I am very happy and proud. All the players, young and old, have taken a big step forward, it’s an important day for Barcelona, “he adds.

The Spanish giant will know his opponent in the quarter-finals in this Friday’s draw.
